This is a multimedia site, related to Scholastic, especially for teachers to use in primary classes. It can be used for animations which lead to other art and language related activities. Lesson plans and suggested activities for teachers to use in ICT contexts are also provided.
The animation section provides pre-drawn backgrounds and sprites but there is also the facility for students to draw their own.
Very simple to use.






Scratch

Scratch is another free animation site developed by the Lifelong Kindergarten group at the MIT Media Lab. It is designed to help young students develop ICT programming language skills by creating animations, interactive stories, games, art and music. Students use skills from many areas of the curriculum to complete their creations and then can upload them to the site for others to view.

Designed for younger students to use story starters to complete their own endings to animations. Characters and settings are pre-drawn and speech bubbles are provided for dialogue. Completed projects can be uploaded to the site and selections of these are put up for others to watch. Any animation that contains personal details about the students or is deemed to be too violent is not shown. Names of products or services are also banned.
